NEW YORK — Tony Sheldon and Will Swenson will lead the cast when “Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical” opens in Toronto this fall.

“Priscilla” will begin a 12-week, pre-Broadway engagement at The Princess of Wales Theatre on Oct. 12. Producers announced Monday that it will officially open Oct. 26.

The musical is written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, and directed by Simon Phillips. It will open on Broadway next spring.

“Priscilla” is the story of three friends who travel across Australia’s Outback in a battered old bus in search of love and friendship.

It is adapted from the 1994 movie starring Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce.
