Myers’ Family Hate Canadian Accent

MIKE MYERS’ British family poke fun at the funnyman when he visits the U.K. - because they find his Canadian accent so annoying.

The Austin Powers star’s parents left their native England for Toronto when Myers was young and he adopted the local accent - much to his relatives’ disdain.

He says, “It’s never gone away. They (my parents) were just constantly making fun of me to my face. I’m the only Canadian in my whole gene pool. My relatives, when I go over there (to the U.K.), they flinch every time I talk. I’ll be like, ‘I’d love to see Liverpool play (football).’ And they’ll be like, ‘Why don’t you call up with that nasal twang of yours and perhaps they’ll respond to that drawl. Just the sheer torture alone and they’ll give you the tickets to stop talking.’”
