MUMBAI - Bollywood actors and models walked the ramp at a fashion show to create awareness about the increasing rate of female foeticide in the country.

Archana Kochhar who designed clothes titled ‘Beti’ said: ” We have organised this show to generate mass social awareness about the evil practice of female foeticide and thus help the society to ponder over eradicating such a gruesome deed.

Actor Zeenat Amaan who also walked the ramp said: “I really believe in the cause, I have been my mother’s daughter, we were really close and I was never brought up to feel that I was anything less than a boy. All opportunities were given to me and I may have two sons but I miss having a daughter and I really do believe in the cause and that’s why I am here.”

“We were walking not for fashion but for a cause and for such a contemporary cause and I say this as a contemporary cause because this problem is going on for ages and it is major threat to all of us but in terms of combating it, in terms of fighting it we have yet to do a lot,” said Amrita Rao.

Beside Zeenat, actors Barbara Mori, Zarine Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Amrita Rao, Perizaad Zorabian, Yukta Mookhey, Suchitra Krishnamurthy, Neelam Kothari, Shilpa Shetty, Mugdha Godse, Suchitra Pillai, Tulip Joshi, Isha Koppikar, Jackie Shroff, Shakti Kapoor and Gulshan Grover were also walked the ramp.
