Fans of JUSTIN BIEBER were rewarded for staying calm and quiet as he appeared on a TV show in New Zealand on Wednesday (28Apr10) - the BABY hitmaker agreed to a meet and greet just two days after mob scenes caused the cancellation of a gig in Australia.

The teen sensation has caused chaos during his trip Down Under - thousands of fans who turned out to catch a glimpse of the singer caused a crowd surge, prompting police to scrap a Sydney show on Monday.

An army of security had to be brought in for Bieber’s visit to New Zealand amid fears his free concert at the Strathallan School in Papakura on Wednesday could end in a riot.

But the show went without a hitch after Bieber asked his fans to calm down in an online message.

More than 800 screaming teen fans turned out to see their idol, but they were on their best behaviour as Bieber performed a six-song set.

The star also made a surprise appearance on the Select Live TV show - and, as he left the studio, he decided to surprise a few lucky fans who were waiting outside to see him.

In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, “Just did Select Live on C4 in New Zealand… tasted some candy I’ve never had before. Not bad. Glad I could go to the door and say hi to the fans that have been waiting outside.

“You are all so supportive around the world. Thank you. New Zealand = great success.”
