April 27, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Canadian actor, recording artist and author William Shatner, world famous for the iconic portrayal of James T. Kirk, captain of the starship USS Enterprise is selling his custom Harley-Davidson motorcycle as part of an auction of Star Trek memorabilia.

Along with his motorcycle he will also be selling his Golden Globe nomination certificate and his Hollywood Walk of Fame plaque as part of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry’s auction.

Shatner, who plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Hollywood Charity Horse Show, which helps handicapped children, said that he doesn’t mind parting with his mementos and would do anything to benefit his chosen charities.

Roddenberry’s auction will also have his own studio pass, hand-annotated scripts and costumes from the show. These items will be among the other stuffs available at the June 27 auction at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, administered by Julien’s Auctions. Proceeds will benefit the Roddenberry Foundation, which makes grants to support children, education and the environment.

The original Star Trek debuted in 1966 and ran for three seasons, following the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the Federation Starship Enterprise.

Shatner said that collection will be very meaningful to Trek fans, who loved and appreciated it for decades.
