JESSICA ALBA, WHOOPI GOLDBERG, AARON ECKHART and ALICIA KEYS will be among the stars judging the competition at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival in New York later this month (Apr10).

The celebrities will also be joined by Brooke Shields, Zach Braff, Selma Blair, America Ferrera, Peter Facinelli, Cheryl Hines and Justin Bartha on the 35-strong jury, which will oversee the six festival categories.

Jane Rosenthal, who founded the annual event with Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff, says, “This year’s jury features the same impressive range and depth as our films playing in competition. They are distinctive and accomplished storytellers, artists and entrepreneurs from the worlds of film, theatre, culture, fashion, television and new media - all of whom share a passion for film, a thirst for discovery and a spirit of independence.”

Films up for consideration by the panel of judges include: Bastard, written and directed by Spider-Man actress Kirsten Dunst; Roots in Water, directed by Domenica Scorsese, Martin Scorsese’s daughter; and Athena, by Dustin Hoffman’s son Max.

The winners in each category will receive cash prizes, as well as a unique piece of art by the likes of Yoko Ono, Stephen Posen and Maira Kalman.

The Tribeca Film Festival kicks off on 21 April and runs until 2 May (10).
