LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- Award-winning television writer and former journalist passed away suddenly on the sets of a new series of which he was the supervising writer producer. He died at a very premature age of 48. However, most surprising was the manner of his death. According to those who had been present in the scene of the incident, David Mills was talking to someone while he sat in the director’s chair, in the Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarters. Apparently, the person he was talking to turned away for a moment, and when he turned back the next minute, he saw David Mills lying unconscious on the floor. The others on the set commented that he had just suddenly slumped to the ground.

The incident occurred in the Cafe Du Monde, where the filming of the new series, “Treme,” was in progress. The series, which is slated to be aired on HBO, is based on the backdrop of the city after it gets hit by the devastating Hurricane Katrina. Soon after he lost consciousness, David Mills was rushed to the Tulane Medical Center. However, despite the efforts of the medical team at the hospital, David Mills did not regain consciousness, and was declared dead after some time, of brain aneurysm.

David Mills is survived by his brother, Franklin Mills, and two sisters, Blanche Carroll and Gloria Johnson. The funeral services are supposed to be held in Washington, but the details are not yet available. David Mills is remembered by his colleagues as a person with acerbic wit, and one who loved arguments, and to kill his opponents with his witty repartee.
