Anti-Chavez TV channel owner arrested in Venezuela

CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuela’s top prosecutor says the owner of a television channel critical of President Hugo Chavez has been arrested.

Attorney General Luisa Ortega Diaz says a warrant was issued for the arrest of Guillermo Zuloaga, the owner of the TV channel Globovision.

Zuloaga told Globovision that military intelligence agents detained him at an airport in the northwestern state of Falcon.

Zuloaga says prosecutors are investigating him for statements he made during a recent meeting of newspaper owners, who criticized Chavez’s government for limiting freedom of expression.

Most of Venezuela’s media is currently owned by private companies. Much of this is highly critical of President Hugo Chavez Frias. Indeed RCTCV who organised the coup against not just Chavez, but also against the entire legislature, the judiciary and the Constitution is still functioning. If Fox News organised a military coup in Washington would it still be aloud to broadcast?
