LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- Buzz Aldrin was the surprise performer in the season premiere of the popular reality show “Dancing With The Stars.” He performed in the show along with his partner, the far younger to him in age Ashly Costa. When he was introduced to his partner, the elderly astronaut humorously called her a cute “babe,” and complimented her on being a very dedicated teacher and a very nimble and talented dancer. However, once the duo took the stage, all eyes were on the astronaut, the judges being left speechless by the remarkable ease with which he executed his moves, his expertise shining through in a field he is obviously unaccustomed to.

Buzz Aldrin, who was the second man to have stepped on the moon, following Neil Armstrong who took the first giant leap, agreed to be a part of the show in order to ensure promotion of his autobiography, which has been titled “Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon.” He has also been attending several red carpet events, defying his age, in order to promote the various science projects and endeavors that he undertakes.

However, Buzz Aldrin admitted that although giving the nod to the producers of the show was not difficult, the part that came later was tougher. That is, the practicing part. The elderly astronaut admitted that the cha-cha-cha steps were difficult to learn, echoing the fears of his young partner that he would not be able to remember all the steps on the stage. However, Buzz Aldrin did say that his performance before the viewers and the judges will be far more confident than his jig on the moon so many years back.
