LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The fight between Kathryn Bigelow’s gritty war drama ‘The Hurt Locker’ and the 3D epic of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ was the center of attention for Hollywood insiders for Oscar awards 2010. While ‘The Hurt Locker’ managed to beat the much hyped ‘Avatar’ in key categories, the best actress award was bagged by another underdog, namely Sandra Bullock. The actress who is best known for her films like ‘Speed’ was never really considered much by the critics due to the presence of other big names like Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren. With the trophy of best actress 2010 in her kitty, she will find the scenario changing soon. She emerged a winner and in her award acceptance speech thanked her mother who, according to her, taught her to never discriminate people based on religion or color.

After bagging the best actress award 2010 in the Oscars, it is likely that Sandra Bullock will get the plum offers from film producers. However, the expectation level has raised and she will have to deliver hits. 2009 was a mixed year for her. ‘The Proposal’ ran well and got praises from the critics to but she messed up big time with ‘All About Steve’. It subjected her to brickbats and flaks from all. However, she proved that she is a winner with ‘The Blind Side’ which not only proved to be a hit but put her among the contenders for Oscar 2010.

The winner of the best actress award 2010 also talked about her lip kiss with Meryl Streep while accepting an award on a previous occasion. Meryl Streep, incidentally missed Oscar once more after being nominated.

She gave such a gracious acceptance speech. And she looked great.

She’s been such a good sport about getting the Razzie. I suppose the Oscar sort of lessens the sting.
