REDMOND O’NEAL has vowed to kick his drug addiction - in a bid to honour his late mother FARRAH FAWCETT.

The troubled 25 year old has been in and out of rehabilitation programs for the past year, trying to tackle his substance abuse problems.

He was arrested in December (09), while on release from a California rehab facility and tested positive for illegal substances. He was subsequently ordered to spend time behind bars at the Wayside Detention Center.

Redmond returned to rehab in Pasadena, California last month (Feb10), and spoke out about his addiction fight at a court hearing on Wednesday (03Mar10).

He revealed that he is “doing great” and is committed to getting clean in an effort to make Fawcett, who passed away last year (09), proud of him.

He tells People.com, “I am focused on my recovery and plan not to let anything get in the way. I am doing my best to make my mother proud.”

During the scheduled hearing, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Tynan eliminated all home visits for O’Neal, telling him, “Right now, pal, you are still in trouble. You need to take a good look inside or nothing will ever change.”

Redmond was moved to rehab last year (09) to continue his fight against substance abuse after serving time behind bars in connection to a January 2008 drug arrest and a probation violation.
