Feb 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’s director, Nishikanth Kamat, has taken up the lead role in ‘Room No 404’, directed by Prawaal Raman. This is because he wants to take some time out from scripting and the pre-production work of his next directorial venture, starring John Abraham. His role in the film is that of a young college professor suffering from bipolar disorder. The film is shooting in Dehradun. Nishikanth’s reasons for taking up the film were obviously because he needed a break from scripting and also because he was very impressed with the subject of ‘Room No 404’.

He believes that spreading awareness about bipolar disorder, which is a disease that stems out of acute depression, is as important as spreading awareness about communalism, like he did in ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’. Tisca Chopra plays his wife in ‘Room No 404’ and Satish Kaushik plays a colleague. After wrapping up this film, Nishikanth will direct his John Abraham starrer.

Nishikanth has earlier acted in the Marathi film, ‘Saatchya Aat Gharat’ and in Hindi film ‘Hava Aney Dey’. He admits that Prawaal Raman has been approaching him with this role since he saw him in ‘Hava Aney Dey’ but he couldn’t accept it as he doesn’t believe that he’s an actor.
