James Cameron wins Golden Globe for ‘Avatar’

WASHINGTON - Filmmaker James Cameron picked up the Best Director gong at the Golden Globes Awards for his blockbuster film ‘Avatar’.

The 3D sci-fi epic also won an award for Best Feature - Drama.

Bradley Cooper-starrer screwball comedy ‘Hangover’ was adjudged Best Feature - Comedy, reports Variety magazine.

Meanwhile, Sandra Bullock was declared the Best actress- Drama for her role in ‘The Blind Side’, and actor Jeff Bridges took way the Best actor- Drama for ‘Crazy Heart’ among the likes of George Clooney, Tobey Maguire and Morgan Freeman.

Veteran star Meryl Streep also won the Best actress- Comedy or Musical for ‘Julie and Julia’, while Robert Downey Jr. received best actor in the same category for ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
