The famous American rapper charged with 2 count of criminal possession of a weapon and also accused of keeping a loaded weapon. According to Gather.com, to avoid to going jail, Lil’ Wayne was trying to fight the weapons charge. If convicted, he could face up to 3 years to 15 years behind the bars.

Two years ago, an incident happened when Lil’ Wayne was found by police with a loaded gun. That incident took place on July 22, 2007, when Lil’ Wayne and his bus were searched by the police. Police found Lil’ Wayne and another guy smoking pot while searching and not only this, they also found a loaded .40 caliber gun.

But for the last two years, Lil Wayne’s attorneys have argued that police could not prove that the weapon they found on the rapper’s bus in July 2007 belonged to him. But, in a surprise move on Thursday, Wayne entered a guilty plea to a class “D” violent felony of attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

The plea brings a one-year prison term, of which Wayne is expected to serve at least eight months. The lead prosecutor on the case, Joan Illuzzi-Orbon, told MTV News shortly after Thursday morning’s court proceeding that despite a focus on the DNA evidence in the case in recent days, she did not think the guilty plea was “contingent” on the DNA.

Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted weapon possession in New York City today, which is reportedly part of a plea deal that will lead to a one-year prison sentence. As the AP reports, Lil Wayne, aka Dwayne Carter, would have received at least a 3.5-year prison sentence if he had been convicted of the original charge of illegal gun possession. Official sentencing isn’t until February of next year and Weezy will be out on bail until that time.

Weezer unveiled the first video from their upcoming album Raditude of the song

If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To.

The video is directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) and features a cameo by Odette Yustman (Cloverfield, October Road).
