MANESAR - After an Oscar, legendary lyricist Gulzar got a hug from Home Minister P. Chidambaram Friday along with musician-singer Shankar Mahadevan for writing and composing a song for the country’s elite commando force National Security Guard (NSG).

Chidambaram honoured both the artists who were also present at a function here to mark the 25th Raising Day of the NSG.

The duo have composed the song Hum Hai Na Hindustan… Hum Hai Na… in 15 days. The song was launched and played for hundreds of spectators who had gathered to witness live demonstration of equipment, weapons and operations by the NSG commandos commonly known as the Black Cats.

It’s difficult to speak after hearing such a stirring song. On behalf of the home ministry and the NSG, I thank the illustrious sons of India for composing this song, Chidambaram, who launched the song, said. He then hugged both the artists.

NSG chief N.P.S. Aulakh also expressed his gratitude to the artists.

“For the first time, NSG would have a song of its own. All the other paramilitary forces have their own song, now we have one of our own. Both Gulzar and Mahadevan have done great honour to the force by composing the song in a very short period, he said.

Gulzar said it was a payback to the NSG and the society.
