WASHINGTON - Rapper Jay-Z used to treat his Def Jam staff with alcohol after a week of hard work.

The ‘99 Problems’ hitmaker learnt the best way to keep workers at Def Jam records, where he was label president, happy was to treat them to champagne cocktails.

“I had Bellini Fridays! Basically at 4pm on Fridays we’d all have Bellinis. Alcohol can smooth everyone out. I’m not promoting drinking to young people though!” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

Talking about his initial days at the record label, Jay Z said that working as music industry executive as opposed to just being a pop star was strange for both him and his staff.

“It was strange having a 9-5 job. The first day I had to be in the office was mind-boggling. I didn’t really know what they expected from me. I was the first one in the office,” he said.

“People would see me and be like, ‘Hey, erm, how you doing?’ I don’t think they got their heads round me being the boss, not the artist,” he added. (ANI)
