Emmy host NEIL PATRICK HARRIS took aim at KANYE WEST for ruining TAYLOR SWIFT’s big moment at the MTV Video Music Awards - warning winners at Sunday’s (20Sep09) ceremony to look out for stage invaders before picking up their prize.

The rapper has been chastised by a host of celebrities for storming the stage at the VMAs to protest Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video win last week (13Sep09).

West snatched the microphone from Swift as she was making her acceptance speech and proclaimed his pal Beyonce deserved the trophy, leaving the young country star stunned.

The ensuing controversy made for more laughs from the Emmys crowd after How I Met Your Mother star Harris opened the 61st annual ceremony with not only a song and dance number but a warning for award favourites Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin of hit comedy 30 Rock.

Harris mocked: “Here’s hoping Kanye West likes 30 Rock.”

Baldwin went on to accept a statuette for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, while Two And A Half Men star Jon Cryer and Pushing Daisies’ Kristin Chenoweth won Emmys in the categories of Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series.
