WASHINGTON - US President Barack Obama called singer Kanye West “jackass”, for interrupting Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards.

ABC spokesperson Terry Moran had posted the leader’s off the record comments on social network site Twitter.

However, the channel’s spokesperson has clarified that it was mistakenly posted on the net.

“In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview,” the Politico quoted a source as saying.

“This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again,” the source added.

The White House has maintained silence over the issue.

Meanwhile, Kanye West has said that he is ashamed about the incident.

West had cut Taylor short to suggest that Beyonce deserved the award instead of her. (ANI)
