Veteran British singer DAME VERA LYNN is thrilled after setting a new record - she is the oldest living artist to top the U.K. album charts.

The former forces’ sweetheart, 92, whose career took off during the Second World War, is at number one this week (begs14Sep09) with her release We’ll Meet Again - The
Very Best of Vera Lynn, holding off competition from The Beatles, who have four of their re-mastered albums in the top 10.

Jamie T is at number two with Kings and Queens, with David Guetta’s One Love at third, Arctic Monkeys’ Humbug fourth, and The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts
Club Band in fifth.

Lynn, who celebrated the triumph with her daughter in France, says, “I am extremely surprised and delighted, and a big ‘thank you’ to all my fans for putting me there.”

Meanwhile, singer Pixie Lott threw a house party to celebrate her track Boys And Girls coming first in the singles charts - after a fire ravaged the venue she originally chose
in Essex, England.

David Guetta’s collaboration with Akon, Sexy Chick, was second, while Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West’s anthem Run This Town took third place.
