melgibson1WASHINGTON - Mel Gibson is set to star in a new film, ‘The Beaver’, to be directed by Jodie Foster.

The actor will play a depressed man who finds solace in wearing a beaver hand-puppet.

Actress-turned-director Foster will also be in front of the camera as Gibson’s wife.

Kyle Killen has written the script, Variety reports.

Steve Golin and Keith Redmon of Anonymous Content, which has produced films like ‘Babel’ and ‘Eternal Sunshine on Spotless Mind’, are expected to produce it.

The financing for the approximately 19-million-dollar project is not finalized but there are reports that Golin might go the indie route, as he did with Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Babel.”

There is also a possibility of Gibson’s production company Icon getting involved.

It has distribution shingles in territories such as the U.K. and Australia. (ANI)
