LOS ANGELES - The teenage vampire movie “Twilight” has swept the honours at the MTV Movie Awards night, winning five awards including best movie and best actress for Kristen Stewart.

Zac Efron was voted Sunday best actor for his performance in High School Musical, but his award was overshadowed by Sacha Baron Cohen.

The outrageous British comic announced the prize dressed as his gay character Bruno as he flew in on a wire over the auditorium and landed upside down on the lap of rapper Eminem, with his bare buttocks in the singer’s face.

The tough-guy rapper and his entourage roughly removed the provocative comic and stormed out of the auditorium. But it was unclear whether Eminem, whose songs have been criticised for homophobia, was in on the gag.

Heath Ledger, who died of an accidental overdose last year, won best villain for his performance in “The Dark Knight”. Teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson was named best male breakthrough artist for his “Twilight” debut and also shared the best kiss award for his clinch with Kristen Stewart in the movie.

Ashley Tisdale won the female best breakthrough award for “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” while Miley Cyrus received the best song prize for “The Climb, from Hannah Montana: The Movie”.

Comedian Ben Stiller was given the MTV Generation Award for his body of work which includes “Zoolander”, “There’s Something About Mary” and “Meet The Fockers”.
