JERUSALEM - English electronic music band Depeche Mode arrived in Israel to launch their Tour of the Universe promoting their latest album.

The 1980s Brit group was forced to cancel its appearance in 2006 due to the Second Lebanon War.

And now, thousands of enthusiastic fans await their performance at Ramat Gan Stadium for the promotion of their 14th album, Sounds of the Universe.

“We were nervous about this place because we had canceled and know that people were upset,” the Jerusalem Post quoted Andrew Fletcher, a co-founder of Depeche Mode and the band’s bass player as saying.

“But we are excited by the response we’ve received here and are very pleased to have sold out,” he added.

Lead singer David Gahan revealed the sellout crowd can expect seven songs from the new album along with their older tunes.

Their world tour would cover four continents and 91 cities and is slated to end in Moscow on February 6, 2010. (ANI)
