Armstrong’s 1st Giro to air on TV in US

VENICE, Italy — TV viewers in the United States will get a chance to watch Lance Armstrong compete in his first Giro d’Italia, after all.

Race organizers announced a four-year deal with NBC-operated Universal Sports on Friday, a day before the three-week race begins.

Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France champion, has said he doesn’t have a shot at winning the Giro after three and a half years of retirement and breaking his collarbone in March. He plans to aid Astana teammate and fellow American Levi Leipheimer in his bid to win the Italian classic.
