Im Coming Back To Make Another Film In Mumbai: Danny Boyle Caught In Face-To-Face In Mumbai Danny Boyle says coming to Mumbai feels like coming home. Being one of the minuscule minority who didn’t enjoy Slumdog Millionaire I thought Danny for me was a long shot. But surprise surprise! Danny Boyle could be a huge lesson in accessibility to those Bollywood entertainers who react adversely to criticism and open their doors only to those mediapersons who praise their work. Getting the Slumdog director on the line proved easier than I thought. I was immediately connected to him …no call-wait as a long battery of deputies inform the firang celebrity-director of the caller, no pretensions as he mumbled he was “still asleep” and could I call him back in an hour? An hour later just before he got busy with a snarl of meetings before flying out of Mumbai, the softspoken auteur director took time off to answer some questions.

Gurinder Chadha Speaks To Subhash K Jha On Her PlansTell me about your new film .
Frank Capra’s It’s A Wonderful Life is one of my favourite films. It A Wonderful Afterlife takes me back to the Bend It Like Beckham territory . Sanjeev Bhaskar and Shaheen Khan are there. I’ve actors from Beckham back in my new film. It’s that kind of film. It takes me back to my Punjabi roots, very West London. What would be an interesting challenge for my leading lady Shabana Azmi is that for the first time she plays British Indian. We haven’t seen her do a British film. Shabana will be playing an Indian woman who has been living in Britain for the last 45 years. She’s never done that before. Besides, I’ve a completely different take on being British Indian from what Indians perceive. My film is going to be the quintessential British comedy. When Shabana read the script she began to get the cultural connotations. For the first time I’m partnering up with Indian production companies The Indian Film Company and TV18. I’m very excited about that . Charity Begins At Home: Mansi Salvi Mansi salve who used to be a cute bahu and sweet face of television is back in action. Cover Story: Branding is important in Bollywood Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai are perfect examples of being famous for their flops. Kareena Kapoor has had it easy, literally. It hasn’t exactly been a rough ride for the Kapoor babe from Day One itself. Even though she left the blockbuster role of female lead in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai against macho Hrithik Roshan to Ameesha Patel, she managed to garner much more publicity for her flop debut, Refugee, than what Ameesha did for her superhit starter. And that was the beginning of a new mantra to market a diva — hit or no hit, the Brand has to hit the headlines.
I had bought a saree which cost me three and a half lacs - Shweta Bharadwaj Q. How would you define fashion?A. I think fashion is directly related to Bollywood and bolly-stars should make sure that they pass the right type of message through their fashion. And also, people who try to ape the fashion after seeing films should remember that the kind of cloths which looks good on a particular star may not look good on someone else.
