MELBOURNE - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to adopt a four-year-old Haitian girl named Leah, according to reports.

The couple - already parents to Maddox 10, Pax Thien, seven, Zahara, six, Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - is apparently in the process of adopting the little girl who lost her entire family in last year’s devastating earthquake.

According to Britain’s Daily Mirror, Jolie fell in love with Leah when she visited the Caribbean nation in February last year.

Since then, the actress has reportedly been in regular contact with government officials, charity workers and adoption agencies to sort out the red tape.

“Angelina’s lawyers are in the process of getting an authorisation so Leah can spend some time with her in America. That’s standard procedure, basically they need to make sure Leah will adapt well,” News.com.au quoted a source as saying.

“A lot of observers from groups such as the Red Cross are ensuring that Angelina is treated like anybody else and not fast-tracked, which would be viewed invidiously.

“There is also a concern about the Haitian authorities not being able to deal with such international pressure. But for now, Angie is almost reaching the final steps of the gruelling adoption process.

“If Leah fits well within her family in the States, she will be able to adopt her,” the source added. (ANI)
