WELLINGTON - A Facebook page established for Geordie the goat has land him a role in ‘The Hobbit’.

The old billy, which has been grazing on the side of New Plymouth’s Junction St for the past 20 years, became famous last year after he was spray-painted twice by vandals, reports Stuff.co.nz.

Geordie’s Facebook page was spotted by a movie scout.

“A scout rang and asked if we would allow Geordie to be in the movie,” said owner Julie Field.

“We said yes and the scout went back to the producer, who saw photos of Geordie and wanted him.”

Geordie was being leased out for the movie for “a few dollars”, which would cover lawn-mowing costs in the goat’s absence. (ANI)
