LONDON - There is exciting news for James Bond fans - a new 007 film has officially been announced.

Film studio MGM and EON Productions executives have announced that the 23rd James Bond film will begin production later this year, and be released worldwide on November 9, 2012.

Daniel Craig is back for his third turn as the secret agent, while Oscar winner Sam Mendes will direct a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan, reports the BBC.

The franchise had been on hold amid financial troubles, with MGM filing for bankruptcy protection last November.

Work on the 23rd film was suspended in April 2010 because of uncertainty over the company’s future.

James Bond is one of the longest running franchises in film history.

Its return marks a four-year hiatus for Bond since his last adventure, ‘Quantum of Solace’ in 2008. (ANI)
