LONDON - British comedian Russell Brand will be honoured in Los Angeles next month for his contribution to women’s cancer charities.

Brand has been working towards women’s cancer causes after his mother Barbara battled the illness three times when he was a child. The star will be the guest of honour at Variety magazine’s Power of Comedy event that will take place Dec 4 at Club Nokia, reports contactmusic.com.

Comedians Sarah Silverman and Bob Saget will perform at the event and the proceeds of the show will be donated to Noreen Fraser Foundation’s Men for Women Now initiative to raise money for women’s cancer research.
