MUMBAI - Reliance Broadcast Network’s Big Digital Wednesday announced the launch of talk Internet radio christened as Big Net Radio, an official said here.

Capitalising on the growing Internet user base, this specialised channel will offer entertainment across the areas that most appeal to Indians, ranging from Bollywood to spiritual to humour.

“This pioneering initiative re-affirms our endeavour to provide India with the entertainment of their choice, which is the latest and in keeping with the times,” said Soumen G. Choudhury, Head of Radio and Digital Business, Reliance Broadcast Network.

Citing a research report, Choudhury said India has over 50 million Internet users, of whom those in the 18-30 age group are increasingly using the medium to stay connected as well as a source of entertainment.

“This is an excellent audience base, which advertisers seek. Online advertising in India is expected to grow at 32 percent between 2010-13 to touch Rs.20 billion in 2013, highlighting the humongous potential that lies before us,” he added.

The content available on Big Net Radio will only be talk shows. It is designed to appeal to audiences who seek quick and brief entertainment capsules which help them destress.
