Jill Clayburgh Dies At 66

LAKEVILLE (GaeaTimes.com)- Actress Jill Clayburgh who is known to have edged roles of independent women discovering their new identity from the shadows of men, breathed her last on Friday morning. The news of the demise of the Academy nominated actress has been confirmed by her family members who have revealed that the “Starting Over” star passed away at her Lakeville, Connecticut home from leukemia. The imminent actress was 66 years of age at the time of her demise.

While revealing the cause of Jill Clayburgh’s death, her husband playwright David Rabe divulged that the Oscar-nominated actress died during the early hours of Friday at her home in the presence of family members and friends. At the same time, David Rabe also revealed that his actress wife was a patient of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and had been undergoing treatment for the condition for more than two decades now. The news of the “First Monday in October” star has comes come as a rude shock to her fans as well as her colleagues in the film fraternity.

Jill Clayburgh received an Oscar nomination for her role in Paul Mazursky’s 1978 flick “An Unmarried Woman”in which she edges the character of a Manhattan wife whose life falls apart after her husband leaves her for another woman. Another landmark movie starring the noted actress was “Starting Over”for which she again bagged an Oscar nomination the following year. Jill Clayburgh is best known for immortalizing the dilemmas, the trials and the tribulations that women in the 1970’s and 1980’s had to go through which earned her a huge fan following.
