Malani Ramani? It’s Malini! (WIFW Diary)

NEW DELHI - Now this was a major faux pas - the tag outside fashion designer Malini Ramani’s stall at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) read ‘Malani Ramani’ instead!

The spelling error was prominent on the first day Saturday, but it was left to be corrected until the second day of the five-day fashion extravaganza in the capital Sunday.

That must’ve been quite a shock for a designer who has been in the fashion industry for over a decade.

Rahul Dev - the Valaya loyalist!

At times on the ramp - at times off it - former model-turned Bollywood actor Rahul Dev is always there to show his support to ace couturier JJ Valaya.

The actor, last seen fighting his fears on Colors’ reality show “Khatron Ke Khiladi 3″, marked his attendance at Valaya’s show, sponsored by Chivas, at the WIFW Saturday night.

Apparently, Valaya has a soft corner for Rahul as he was among the few models who walked the ramp for his first-ever fashion show years ago.

For the late evening show Saturday, Rahul looked dapper in black and cheered on for the elegant collection of saris and suits by Valaya.

Clamour for front row seats!

What happens when over 20 people sit in a place that can accommodate only 16? Utter chaos! That’s just what’s happening with mediapersons at the WIFW.

“Everyone wants to sit in the front row, irrespective of whether they are falling off or just sitting on the edge! It has become a prestige issue. No one wants to sit in the second or third row even if there is enough room!” said a source from the organisers.

“At times, as many as five people from the same publication come and all of them want to sit in the first row…that becomes a problem for us. But there’s no solution!”
