LONDON - Teetotal Russell Brand sniffed alcohol before shooting scenes for new movie ‘Arthur’ in order to get into character as the drunken millionaire playboy.

The actor is stepping into the role made famous by Dudley Moore in a remake of the popular 1981 film, opposite Jennifer Garner and Helen Mirren.

According to the film’s director Jason Winer, Brand, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction in the past, recalled his wild ways for the role by inhaling the smell of alcohol while on set.

“He sniffs alcohol to give himself a sense memory of what those days were like,” the Daily Express quoted Winer as telling Empire magazine

“Russell’s been sober for years so we’re not worried,” Winer added. (ANI)
