The Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon in America on Friday night (10Sep10) helped raise over $80 million (£53.3 million) for cancer research charities. More than 18.3 million watched the hour-long telecast, which featured live performances from Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and appearances by cancer sufferers Michael Douglas and Maura Tierney and movie stars Gwyneth Paltrow, George Clooney and Denzel Washington.
