Nandi Awards 2010 Held

HYDERABAD, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Nandi Awards, who is given out every year by the Andhra Pradesh government, was presented at a dazzling ceremony on Tuesday. The award ceremony which was held at the Lalitha Kala Thoranam witnessed the presence of eminent personalities such as Chief Minister K. Rosaiah as well as Minister for Information and Broadcasting J. Geeta Reddy.
At the same time, the Nandi Awards 2010 which recognized contribution to the Telugu cinema in a number of categories for the year 2008, turned out to be a star studded event with a host of prominent personalities from the world of Telugu film industry also making the presence in the award ceremony. During the lavish event, the N.T. Rama Rao National Film Award was given out to veteran actress Jamuna by the Chief Minister while the Raghupati Venkaiah Award for lifetime achievement was bagged by much acclaimed actress/producer-director Vijayanirmala.
The same time, the Best Actor award was given to Ravi Teja for his film “Neninte” while actress Swati took home the award for Best Actress for her performance in the movie “Ashta Chamma”. Meanwhile, director J. Radhakrishna was recognized as the Best Director for his flick “Gamyam” with the movie also grabbing the Best Film award. Apart from these, other awards were given out in a variety of categories to honor the best works in Telugu cinema. The winner of the award were decided by a 14 committee member with Chief Minister K. Rosaiah approving it later.
The Nandi Awards 2010 was held amidst tight security as it was being reported that pro-Telangana activists were likely to disrupt the proceedings of the event.
