Flowers’ Mother Dies

THE KILLERS’ recent concert cancellations have been explained - frontman BRANDON FLOWERS’ mum has died after a two-year battle with cancer.

Jean Flowers passed away last Thursday (11Feb10) aged 64, after she was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2008.

The band had cited the “severity of the illness of a close family member” for scrapping several concerts in Australia earlier this month (Feb10).

They pulled out of a show in Sydney on Friday night (12Feb10), as well as an appearance at the Good Vibrations music festival in Sydney and Perth over the weekend (12-14Feb10).

It came just weeks after the band axed its January (10) tour of Asia due to “unforeseen” circumstances.

Flowers had not commented on his mother’s passing as WENN went to press.
