LOS ANGELES, (GaeaTimes.com)- Hollywood actor Jeff Bridges bagged the award for the best actor in drama for his movie ‘Crazy Heart’ in the Golden Globe 2010 at the much anticipated award ceremony which held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday night. The actor received the honor for his amazing performance in the movie, in which he successfully edged the character of an alcoholic country music singer who struggles to get his life and career back on track.
After being declared as the winner in the best actor category at the Golden Globe 2010, Jeff Bridges dedicated the award to his family. Moreover, the actor also received one of the very few standing ovation of the evening when he went on stage to collect the award. Jeff Bridges acknowledged the standing ovation as he jokingly added that the honor was decreasing his under-appreciated status.
Other actors who also received nominations in the Best Actor category included Tobey Maguire for “Brothers”, and Colin Firth for “A Single Man”, George Clooney for “Up in the Air” and Morgan Freeman for “Invictus”. Meanwhile, George Clooney was the front runner for the best actor award as critics speculated that this year the “Up in the Air” actor would be recognized for his performance in the movie.
However, it was Jeff Bridges who ultimately emerged as the winner for best actor in the Golden Globe 2010. Last night’s honor was extremely significant for the veteran actor as this was the first Golden Globe award that Jeff Bridges has received although he had been nominated on three earlier occasions but failed to emerge as the winner every time.
