George Clooney to host MTV telethon to help raise funds for Haiti victims

NEW YORK - Hollywood Star George Clooney is set to host the MTV telethon, which aims to collect funds for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
“The Perfect Storm” star is believed to be hosting the show on January 22.
Many other well-known faces of Hollywood including Ben Stiller, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have come forward to help raise money for the quake-ravaged nation.
Brangelina have donated 1 million dollars to Doctors Without Borders for the treatment of survivors in Haiti.
“The first response is critical to serve the immediate needs of countless people who are now displaced from their homes, are suffering trauma, and most require urgent care,” the New York Daily News quoted Pitt, as saying in a statement.
In a Twitter message to his fans, Ben Stiller said “people in Haiti need our help and attention right now.”
Oprah Winfrey also joined the campaign and called upon her show audience to help.
She said: “This is a time where we, as a global nation, should come together and support those who are in need.”
Coldplay rocker Chris Martin said: “Most people in Port-au-Prince live in tin shacks…The earthquake that has struck Haiti will have turned the city into an unimaginable hell.” (ANI)
