LA, Boston critics hail The Hurt Locker as ‘best flick’

MELBOURNE - Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker won top honours at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Boston Society of Film Critics awards.

Bigelow was named the best director at both the awards, while her Iraq war thriller The Hurt Locker was named as the best movie of the year, reports News.com.au.

Boston critics selected Jeremy Renner as the best actor for playing Sergeant First Class William James in The Hurt Locker, while LA critics chose Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart.

Boston critics picked Meryl Streep as the best actress for Julie and Julia, while LA gave the honour to Belgium-born Yolande Moreau for her performance the French flick Siraphine.

Mo’Nique bagged the best supporting actress award from both the critics’ bodies for her role in Precious.

Cristoph Waltz’s Nazi act in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds won him the best baddy award from both the LA and Boston critics. (ANI)
