Rajnikanth Birthday Today

Chennai- Tamil superstar Rajnikanth celebrates his 60th birthday today. The much acclaimed actor who is known for his illustrious work spanning over 35 years, turns 60 today. The actor, who has mainly worked in South Indian films, is known for his huge fan following across India as well as worldwide.

Rajnikanth whose actual name is Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, is fondly referred to as the ‘King of Kollywood’. The actor is known for his tremendous mass appeal which he gathered over the years due to his impeccable style and action stunts, which managed to win the hearts of the audiences. Apart from his acting skills, Rajnikanth’s work as a screenwriter, producer and playback singer has also been appreciated by the people. The actor is a powerhouse of talent with more than 150 films to his credit. Some of his most successful works include Billa, Murattu Kaalai, Pokkiri Raja, Naan Mahaan Alla, Moondru Mugam among others. Apart from these, the actor has also acted in a number of Hindi movies as well as few other foreign language films. Moreover, the actor is known for his undisputed star status with most of his later films turning out to be blockbusters as audiences cheered whenever the actor appeared in the silver screen.

To mark his birthday, his fans distributed sweets and at the same time offered prayers in temples to wish for the well being for their favorite star. However, as fans across the country celebrate his birthday, the actor is busy shooting for his latest film ‘Enthiran’ which is being directed by much acclaimed director Shankar. It is also being speculated that Rajnikanth would be present at the Kamakshi Amman temple in Kancheepuram to celebrate his birthday.
