Idlewild Star’s Baby Dash After Gig

IDLEWILD rocker GARETH RUSSELL rushed straight to hospital after the band’s concert in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday (28Nov09) - because his wife went into labour while he was on stage.

The British star was performing at Homecoming Live’s Final Fling gig alongside punk legends The Skids and Midge Ure, when he found out his wife was about to give birth.

As soon as the bassist finished the set, he put his guitar down and dashed to his wife Sally’s side - but despite his best efforts, he narrowly missed the big moment.

He said, “We almost had to get a stand-in for me as we thought tonight might be the night. We went ahead - (but I had) to go - Sally (was) about to give birth.”
