Vatican slams ‘Twilight’ series

LONDON - The Roman Catholic Church has expressed concerns over the growing popularity of the “Twilight” series, as Vatican officials have called the vampire franchise a “moral vacuum with a deviant message”.
The worldwide hype of the series has drawn criticism from the Vatican, with officials urging parents to be more vigilant about the type of films their children are watching, reports imdb.com.
“The theme of vampires in ‘Twilight’ combines a mixture of excesses that as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element. It is once again that age-old trick or ideal formula of using extremes to make an impact at the box office. This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern,” said Monsignor Franco Perazzolo of the Pontifical Council of Culture.
The second film in the vampire series, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”, hit cinemas Friday worldwide.
Vatican officials previously criticised the Harry Potter film franchise for its themes of magic and wizardry, as well as Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons” for their depiction of the Catholic Church.

Publicly unobtrusive and unassuming. The one no notices. Practiced at invisibility. Not the volunteering type nor the one that raises a hand in class. Not formally or self taught, I am utterly talentless musically. However yearning for a more shallow, material lifestyle and longing for the attention, recognition, fame and fortune I deserve I decided to try my hand in the biz. I had nothing to lose and for years have seen the talented flop and moreover a majority of talentless or even dead “artists” releasing turds that somehow turned into gold for. Why not pinch off a few nuggets of my own. Again, nothing to lose. A yet to be acquired entourage of poisonous lackeys and yes men. Lecherous, useful and resourceful in crafting drama, mayhem, recovery, triumph and relapse of various requisite bad boy behavior (a stars legend or mythology if you will) Those morally bankrupt that want nothing more than to be associated with my rising stardom that are always willing to patronizingly encourage and approve of my painfully transparent, shallow and sad sophomoric shenanigans to draw attention to myself. Which lets face it is just as necessary as a “stolen” sex tape to remain a bankable commodity. Speaking of which a favorite way to make my presence known in public places (ie having myself repeatedly paged via overhead on PA systems in airports or shopping malls. Essentially anywhere and everywhere I (unabashedly) possibly can. Shamelessly necessary crafting of keeping my shtick timely, edgy, fresh and relevant. In touch with the pulse of the public. Maintaining a fervent cross spectral, fiercely loyal broad demographical appeal, demand for new and more. Keeping existing and potential fans (especially the press) on their toes, guessing what I will do next. Creating an urgency to see what the latest Moe project buzz is all about, subtle references to past and possible future work ensure increased legacy, current and future word of mouth demand and increased sales (often selling out first run media) and researched timelines for re - pressing legacy products as late as possible to drive urgency, rumor of availability or lack there of and lines around the block midnight sales events and atmosphere demand and increasing value of products. My our content driven long term and transients consumer base campaign work and a marketing dream steam have nurtured, nudged and discreetly supported with targeted pre release demo media, a blitz of national pre release personal appearances, saturation interviews and press saturation events on release date. An exhaustive international campaign. all aimed at decreased need for traditional advertising Sad, shallow and hollow. I have become Moe the star and forgot who/what Moe the man was or when he passed into oblivion. For better or worse I don’t seem to miss him. |
