MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Indian movie viewers who have become tired of watching slapstick comedies that struggle to extract laughter from the audience have got a welcome relief in the newly released Ashwini Dhir film ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ This urban comedy which has veteran actors like Paresh Rawal and Ajay Devgan is replete with funny situations and a tight plot that never loses track. Konkona Sensharma has also delivered a credible and low key performance which complements the acting of her co-stars. The movie opened to a 50% occupancy rate on Friday and if the opinion of the trade gurus is to be believed it will pick up business in the weekend and send the producers laughing all the way to the bank.

‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ has got a better opening than the Dev Benegal film named ‘Road, Movie’ which was released on the same date. The latter is more of a festival film that is likely to appeal to a niche audience. That explains why it is lagging behind as far as box office business is concerned. The Ashwini Dhir directed film ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’ reminds one of the sweet yet realistic comedies made in the 1980s by directors like Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Hence, it is a film which the entire family can watch. The families staying in metros will be able to relate to the theme of this movie and it will also gain from word of mouth publicity.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?‘ has garnered largely positive reviews from the critics. The viewers have liked the fact that the stars do look like average urban couples and the situations they have been put in the film are extremely realistic.
