When Norah Jones almost gave up…
By SAMPURNThursday, November 12, 2009
The talented singer Norah Jones is opening up about her early life before she got fame.
She says that she almost quit music before finding fame with her debut album Come Away With Me, because working as a waitress was making her fat and miserable.
Her jazz hit sold 10 million copies, topping charts around the world and catapulting her to instant fame.
But she has now admitted and said that she came close to walking away from music after struggling to settle in New York. She didn’t really get much support from her famous Indian father Pt. Ravi Shankar and is a self made lady.
The 30 year old reveals while crediting her mother for guiding her well, "I’d gained weight -waiting tables, I was eating a lot of corn muffins and I didn’t know they were filled with butter. I felt fat, I felt gross. I called my mom crying and said I wanted to go back to Texas. But my mom said, you know, you’ve only been there six months; at least give it a full year."
Well, must say her perseverance paid off well.
