The New York Critics Circle awards were handed out in the Big Apple on Monday night (11Jan10). The winners, which were announced in December (09), included Best Actor GEORGE CLOONEY, for UP IN THE AIR, Best Actress MERYL STREEP, for JULIE & JULIA, and war drama THE HURT LOCKER, which was named Best Film.
GEORGE CLOONEY has been honoured for his contribution to the arts in his home state of Kentucky. The Ocean’s Eleven star was named the recipient of the National Award in the 2009 Kentucky Governor’s Awards in the Arts in recognition of his illustrious movie career. Clooney’s parents, Nick and Nina, collected the honour on his behalf at the ceremony on Tuesday (06Oct09).
