Penelope gets engaged

Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz has entered a new phase in her life.

She’s got engaged to her actor beau Javier Bardem,

The buzz is that they also have plans to get married soon.

The Oscar-winning couple have always maintained a low-key relationship but have now decided to disclose the engagement.

A friend reportedly heard it from them directly and said: "They’re telling friends they will get married."

The speculation of the engagement had been rife since April. There were even pregnancy rumours after the actress who won an Oscar for Woody Allen’s ‘Vicky, Christina, Barcelona’, was seen leaving an OB/GYN clinic in Madrid in September.

But another reliable source confirmed: "They say the pregnancy stories aren’t true."

Penelope however said in an interview that she doesn’t believe in marriages. Her relationships with Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey hadn’t worked.

The actress had said: "I don’t know if I believe in marriage. I believe in family, love and children. When I [have children], I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life."

Let’s hope Penelope gets the balance right this time.
