LONDON - The tickets for the 2010 Glastonbury music festival will be put up for sale starting from today at 9 a.m.

Fans first needed to register themselves last week before they could buy tickets to the 40th anniversary of the festival.

However, the registration does not guarantee a ticket, reports The BBC.

A spokesman for the event quoted the sale policy as “good, open scheme,” and added that the system was a success last year since “we know all tickets are going to festival-goers.”

Uncertain fans can check online if their previous registration is still valid.

Meanwhile, the Glastonbury deposit scheme allows the buyer to pay a 50-pound-deposit to reserve a ticket.

The final balance can be paid at a later date.

Organiser of the event Michael Eavis has said, “expectations are really high”.

He is also planning to extend the current four-year licence to 2011, while it is expected that the event may not take place in 2012 to let the Somerset site to recover. (ANI)
