Meatballs A Tasty Hit At U.k. Box Office

Animated family film CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS is the U.K.’s number one movie after taking $2.4 million (£1.6 million) in its opening weekend (19-20Sep09).
The 3D comedy, featuring vocal talent from actors James Caan and Bill Hader, knocked sci-fi drama District 9 to second place, with earnings of $1.2 million (£810,600), after two weeks at the top of the box office charts.
Gerard Butler’s sci-fi thriller Gamer opened at three, while romantic comedy (500) Days of Summer jumped up a spot to four.
Horror movie The Final Destination slipped three places to round out the top five.
