Williams Weds Onstage

American folk singer LUCINDA WILLIAMS wed her longterm fiance on Friday (18Sep09) - during a concert in Minnesota.

Grammy award-winning Williams and manager Tom Overby exchanged vows in front of family, friends and fans alike as she performed at the First Avenue venue in Minneapolis.

Wearing a black silk skirt and matching blouse, Williams joked, “I thought I’d wear something besides jeans tonight.”

Her father, renowned poet Miller Williams, appeared onstage and read a piece he wrote for his daughter when she was a child.

After the ceremony, the happy couple was showered with confetti and the band played Keith Richards’ song Happy, as Williams declared, “Thank you for sharing this with us.”

Williams announced the pair’s engagement in 2006.
