Comedy ruled the U.S. box office at the weekend (18-20Sep09) - with animated family film CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS taking the top spot.

The 3-D movie, about a town where food falls from the sky, took in $30.1 million (£20.1 million) with the help of voiceovers by actors Bill Hader and Lori Alan, while Matt Damon’s dark comedy The Informant! came in second place, earning $10.5 million (£7 million).

Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself still got laughs despite slipping from first place into third, adding another $10.1 million (£6.7 million) to its earnings and taking its two-week total to $37.9 million (£25.3 million).

Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart’s romantic comedy Love Happens made $8.5 million (£5.7 million) at four, while Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried’s horror/comedy Jennifer’s Body rounded out the top five, opening with $6.8 million (£4.5 million).

it is not easy to defeat other horror and actions movies from comedy movie. but in this time Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs will defeat other movies by providing true comedy genre plot. this was directed by
Christopher Miller, Phil Lord .
