Ernie Anastos: Chicken Misquote Debacle
By shantanu, Gaea News NetworkFriday, September 18, 2009
Ernie Anastos, of the FOX affiliated WNYW, hit instant internet stardom after he lets slip some obscene jargon while on air. While intending to say “Keep plucking the chicken” while co-hosting a news segment, he said, “Keeping F—ing the chicken“. No sooner had he said it than his co-host, Dari Alexander, grimaced. This led to a momentary awkward silence during the program.
One of the staff members at WNYW says, “Everybody likes Ernie, and knows he would never say that on air. Nobody has a bad word to say about Ernie. He’s revered at the station.”
Anastos sensational clip was made even more popular when it was posted on Youtube.com. Also later it appeared as a pop up news item on Facebook and other such sites.
Anastos has apologized publicly on the ten o’ clock news broadcast, on Thursday night. He said, “I misspoke during Thursday night’s newscast. I apologize for my remarks to anyone who may have been offended.”
Even after making such an enormous blunder in front of such huge public exposure he hasn’t been suspended or sacked by the concerned authorities at the network.
After the incident came into notice the management at FOX has not been happy at all. There is an absolute ultimatum on jargons using F words on air by the management at the FOX networks.
Dari Alexander, the Co-host of the news segment has reportedly commented on her facebook page, “the look was me thinking, ‘Oh, no, I don’t think it came out right.’ Totally innocent…it happens.”
